About:

Dorothy is a piano, violin and viola teacher with nearly six years of instrumental teaching experience across Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Holding an ATCL Diploma in piano performance, Grade 8 violin and theory, and a Master’s degree in Music Education, she brings strong musical credentials alongside a genuine passion for nurturing young musicians of all ages and abilities. Dorothy believes that strong fundamentals, having solid technique, confident music reading and good listening form the foundation of every musician and she works carefully to build these from the very first lesson. Her teaching style is student-centred, creative and adaptive, drawing on games, activities, storytelling and imaginative approaches to keep lessons engaging, enjoyable and meaningful for each individual student. With a background in psychology and leading music workshops, Dorothy is naturally attentive to the emotional and developmental needs of her learners, ensuring every pupil feels comfortable, motivated and genuinely excited to progress. Whether a complete beginner or a student preparing for an examination, Dorothy is committed to making every pupil feel capable, valued and inspired by music.
